On the cross, Jesus absorbed the wrath of God and man. The anger that burned in God toward the sin and corruption of man was poured out on Jesus. He took it all for those who would put their faith in Him.
At the same time, Jew and Gentile alike conspired to kill Jesus. They truly hated Him and worked hard to have Him killed. Their anger, too, was poured out upon Him. And they sinned in many ways toward Him. They lied and bore false witness about Him. They coveted the perfume poured on His feet and the praise He received. They stole His clothes and cast lots for them. They murdered Him after beating, publicly shaming, and mocking Him.
And He took it all.
He absorbed it in His body.
He bore the wrath and the justice of God in His body as He carried our sins upon Him.
He took our guilt and shame. He died the death we deserve.
And He now lives having risen three days later. He was never corrupted by it. He is exalted and on the throne in heaven today.
And He calls us to look at His example and live by it.
He calls us to believe God and His Word and to live by it.
And He calls us to take up our cross and follow Him.
One of the hardest things you will be called to do is to take up your cross to follow Jesus. But #wedohardthings
#Takeupyourcross and #followJesus in #discipleship
Learn to love God and love others.
It begins when you #ExperienceLove in what God has done for you in the gospel.
You are loved.
I hope you have a blessed day today.
In Christ,
Mike
