SHOW UP FOR SURGERY...DAILY

The Word of God is like a surgeon's knife that opens our heart and lays it bare on the table before our eyes. It shows us exactly who we are. We don't like to see the sin that is clearly there. When confronted with its presence (in us, not somewhere else) we can want to turn our face and cover our eyes. When the Great Physician confronts us with our sickness we can want to close our ears and run out of the room. It's so much easier to stand in the room during the procedure when its not your heart on the table and the corruption under the spotlight is someone else's.

That's true for all of us.

It's very hard to come to the Bible day after day knowing it is going to show us we are sick and that there are things in our life that need to be addressed. But #wedohardthings . We come and read knowing this process is how we are healed. The Great Physician is not exposing our sin and showing us our need to harm us, but to heal us. The same Bible that shows us we are sinners, a truth we must hold in one hand, also shows us we are loved by God and saved by the shed blood of Christ, a truth we must hold in the other hand. These are twin truths for the Christian. While we are unclean and in need of God's cleansing work to make us new and to rid us of what is making us sick we are also adopted into the family God and given an inheritance.

He cleanses us because He loves us. He exposes our sin to make us whole.

Do the hard thing

#ReadtheBible for #transformation

Take an honest look at your life and yield to God so you can kill the sin that is at work in you to kill you.

And live by the grace God gives you in the #Gospel: God loves you and the Trinity made a plan to rescue you and bless you for His glory and your joy. The Father planned it. The Son purchased it. And the Holy Spirit is in you working today applying it, doing the heart surgery you and I desperately need. Live knowing you were loved forever before you were born.

In Christ,

Mike
