We all do little actions throughout the day. Almost all of these actions happen without much thought. Even our thoughts qualify as actions and yet we do not give much thought to even what types of thoughts we had. But all these little actions are like seeds. And these seeds go out into the world and grow into trees. Those trees then grow branches that spread out across the land. On those branches sprout the fruit that was contained in the little seed we planted in the action we did without much thought.
It is a hard thing to begin INTENTIONALLY taking your thoughts and actions captive to Christ. It is hard to COMMIT to thinking and living ON PURPOSE. Scripture says, "The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward" (Prov. 11:18). It also says, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life" (Gal. 6:7).
The Scriptures are clear, Christian: It is worthwhile to follow Jesus in living an INTENTIONAL, COMMITTED, ON PURPOSE life where you learn to give every thought to Christ and to turn from sin as well as act in ways that are pleasing to the Father. There is great reward. It's not for your salvation. You ARE saved by grace because Christ Jesus came and died for you. He shed His blood to pay for your sins and He rose from the grave as the Scriptures promised. And He is ruling in Heaven today interceding for you so you will have all you need. He also sent the Helper, the Holy Spirit, who now lives in you so you will have the power, the desire, and strength to overcome sin as you pursue holiness.
It is a hard thing to do for sure. But your heart will be better for it. Your home will be better for it. Your neighborhood and city will be better for it. Even the world will be better for it. The impact of one person committing their life to walk in righteousness following Christ makes a worldwide impact. That's what the Bible teaches. And the impact happens in little bitty actions throughout the day like doing good for someone who doesn't deserve it. Letting someone cut in traffic and not flipping them off. A drive thru difference or an extra tip on your meal can change several lives. It is hard, but #wedohardthings
