Today is the day you may come face to face with the realization that a lifetime of working FOR God, to impress Him, is rubbish compared to the gift of knowing Jesus Christ personally (Phil.3:7-8). Today may be a day of counting as loss all those things you worked so hard to obtain because you know if you hold onto them the way you have, you won't hold onto Him the way you were made to, the way you were made to experience and enjoy Him.
You can't hold onto the hope of Christ and anything else. You must count all else as a loss. That is a hard thing to do.

"But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,"
